How do I run for School Board Elections?
School board elections in Linn County are non-partisan.
You must file an Affidavit of Candidacy and collect signatures on Nomination Petitions to run for school board in Linn County. Mark on your Nomination Petitions if you are running at large or in a district before you have people sign the petitions.
Community Colleges have special nomination petitions and are filed with the Community College Board Secretary. If you run for a community college district position, the signatures have to come from people who live in that district.

How do I run for City Elections?
City elections in Linn County are non-partisan and none of the cities in Linn County have a Primary Election.
The City of Cedar Rapids has a Runoff Election if the top candidate for an office doesn't get at least 50% of the votes (or 25% when two at-large seats are on the ballot).
You must file an Affidavit of Candidacy and collect signatures on Nomination Petitions to run for city office in Linn County. Mark on your Nomination Petitions if you are running at large or in a district before you have people sign the petitions. If you run for a district or ward position, the signatures have to come from people who live in that district or ward.
